DiseaseTHE EFFECT OF VARIOUS DEHISCENT APPLICATIONS SUCH AS DEHISCENT MATERIALS (LARGE CHAFFS,VERMICULITE), GROWTH REGULATORS AND AGRICULTURAL CHEMICALS ON STIMULATION OF DEHISCENCE AND SHORTENING OF DEHISCENE PERIOD WERE INVESTIGATED. 1. THE MOISTURE CONTENT OF ENDOSPERM AND SEED COAT 10 DAYS AFTER APPLICATION OF DEHISCENT MATERIAL WAS BETWEEN 40-50%. 2. ENDOSPERM DIAMETER WAS INCREASSED WITH TIME OF STRATIFICATION: THE EMBRYO GROWTH SHOWED NO LINEAR FUNCTION. 3. NON-DEHISCENT SEED ALSO SHOWED NORMAL DEVELOPMENT OF EMBRYOS AND DEHISCENCE WAS DEPENDENT ON THE PHYSICAL-CHEMICAL NATURE OF THE SEED COAT. 4. THE BEST DEHISCING MATERIALS WERE LARGE CHAFFS,VERMICULITE,SAND AND A COMBINATION OF SAND AND LARGE CHAFFS. 5. AGRICULTURAL CHEMICALS REDUCED THE DEHISCENCE RATE OF SEED. 6. THE BEST TIME FOR DEHISCENCE TREATMENT WAS BETWEN AUGUST 1 AND AUGUST 10. STUDIES WERE CARRIED OUT IN SOUTH KOREA.
