DiseaseA NUMBER OF GROWTH PARAMETERS WERE MEASURED WITH RESPECT TO AMOUNT AND INTENSITY OF LIGHT, SUCH AS CHLOROPHYLL CONTENT, CAROTENOIDS, TRANSPIRATION RATE, LEAF ANATOMY, PHOTOSYNTHESIS AND RESPIRATION AND GINSENOSIDE CONTENTS. IT IS REPORTED THAT PANAX GINSENG REQUIRES 3-8% OF FULL SUNLIGHT (AS COMPARED WITH 20-30% FOR PANAX QUINQUEFOLIUS). LOW LIGHT INTENSITY SEEMED TO DECREASE ROOT YIELDS. LENGTH OF STEM,PETIOLE,LEAF AND PEDUNCLE, AS WELL AS LEAF WIDTH DECREASED WITH AN INCREASE IN LIGHT INTENSITY. THERE WAS NOT MUCH QUANTITATIVE DIFFERENCE IN GINSENOSIDES PRODUCED WHEN THE TITLE PLANT WAS GROWN UNDER 5% LIGHT TRANSMITTANCE RATE(LTR) OR 30% LTR. THE GENSENOSIDES IDENTIFIED IN DECREASING ORDER OF AMOUNTS WERE RG-1,RD,RE,RB-3,RB-2,RG-2,RB-1,RC.
