| Disease | DEGENERATION OF MYOCARDIUM IN MICE SURVIVING AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS. VENTRICULAR WALLS WERE DILATED AND THIN WITH WAVY AND FRAGMENTED MYOFIBRILS AND FOAMY MUSCLE CELLS. LARGE VACUOLES WERE PRESENT. ELECTRON MICROSCOPIC STUDY REVEALED SWOLLEN MITOCHONDRIA, FIBROBLASTS OF THE INTERSTITIUM CONTAINING LAMELLAR BODIES AND SWOLLEN CAPILLARY ENDOTHELIUM. MYELIN FIGURES WERE FOUND SURROUNDING MITOCHONDRIA AND ABUNDANT AUTOPHAGIC VACUOLES AND LYSOSOMIC BODIES SURROUNDED THE NUCLEUS. NECROSIS REACHED IT'S PEAK IN MICE KILLED AFTER TWO WEEKS. |
