| Disease | 5 HOURS POST ADMINISTRATION, HIGHEST CONCENTRATIONS OF GOSSYPOL WERE IN THE LIVER FOLLOWED BY SPLEEN, LUNG, BLOOD, KIDNEY, HEART & TESTES, IN DECREASING ORDER. FAT & MUSCLE CONTAINED VERY LITTLE GOSSYPOL. IN THE WHOLE BRAIN, GOSSYPOL WAS USUALLY NOT FOUND. OF 10.0 MG OF GOSSYPOL ADMINISTERED ,7.2 MG WAS FOUND IN THE FECES AFTER 72 HOURS. THE TOTAL AMOUNT EXCRETED IN THE URINE WAS ONLY 0.3 MG. GOSSYPOL WAS ALSO EXCRETED THROUGH THE BILE, SUBSTANTIATING THE EXISTENCE OF A HEPATO- INTESTINAL CIRCULATION IN THE METABOLISM OF GOSSYPOL IN VIVO. |
