SIMULTANEOUSLY, GOSSYPOL ALSO INHIBITS MANY OTHER. BIOCHEMICAL REACTIONS,SUCH AS THE GONAD-SPECIFIC LHD-X TESTOSTERONE PRODUCTION BY LEYDIG CELLS. THIS SUGGESTS THAT THE UNCOUPLING ACTION OF GOSSYPOL MAY NOT BE THE PRIMARY CAUSE OF CONTRACEPTION. IT DOES NOT RULE OUT THE POSSIBILITY THAT A REDUCTION IN ENERGY SUPPLY,ESPECIALLY IN THE EARLY.
