| Disease | ADMINISTRATION TO RATS IN INCREASING DOSAGE HAD NO EFFECT ON RENAL CELL MEMBRANE NA-K-ATPASE BOUND TO OUABAIN. SIMILAR RESULTS WERE OBTAINED WITH GUINEA PIGS. HOWEVER, GUINEA PIG TOTAL ISOLATED RENAL CELL MEMBRANE NA-K-ATPASE ACTIVITY DECREASED WITH INCREASING DOSAGE OF GOSSYPOL. A LOW K INTAKE POTENTIATES THE GOSSYPOL-INDUCED DECREASE IN NA-K-ATPASE ACTIVITY AND RENAL K LOSS IS DISCUSSED. DOSES EMPLOYED WERE 5.0, 10.0, AND 15.0 MG/KG FOR UP TO 56 DAYS. |
