DiseaseANIMALS RECEIVED DAILY DOSES OF GOSSYPOL FOR 3,4,5 AND 6 WEEKS CONSECUTIVELY. TESTES WERE RECOVERED 2 HOURS AFTER INTRATESTICULAR INJECTION OF 3H-ARGENINE,3H-LYSINE OR 3H-URIDINE, RESPECTIVELY AND PROCESSED FOR AUTORADIOGRAPHY. ACTIVITY AND FREQUENCY OF LABELING OF 3H-ARGININE IN SPERMATIDS OF 11-19 STAGES WERE SHOWN TO BE OBVIOUSLY DECREASED. THIS SHOWS THAT THE SPERMATIDS OF LATE STAGES WHICH INCORPORATE 3H-ARGININE SELECTIVELY FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF ARGININE-RICH HISTONES WERE THE MOST SENSITIVE TO GOSSYPOL.
