| Disease | DAILY DOSING FOR 4 MONTHS. ULTRASTRUCTURAL CHANGES WERE SEEN IN THE CELLS OF THE ADRENAL CORTEX. THESE CHANGES INCLUDED AN INCREASED NUMBER OF MITOCHONDRIA, FEWER CRISTEA, DISTENSION OF THE ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM AND GOLGI APPARATUS. THERE WAS ALSO AN INCREASE IN LIPID DROPLETS IN THE ZONA GLOMERULOSA CELLS. ANOMALOUS CELLS CHARACTERIZED BY CONDENSED CYTOPLASM, SHRINKAGE OF NUCLEAR MEMBRANE. DENATURED MITOCHONDRIAL MATRIX AND DECREASE SMOOTH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM WERE FOUND IN THE ZONA FASCICULATA. |
