BODY WT LOSS WAS SEEN IN ALL ANIMALS.PROGRESSIVE ANEMIA WAS APPARENT IN THE ANIMAL SURVIVING 13 WKS.INCREASES INUREA & CREATININE WERE SEEN IN ALL MONKEYS.REDUCTIONS IN NA K & CL WERE SEEN IN 3/4 ANIMALS. INORGANIC PHOSPHORUS LEVELS WERE ABNORMALLY HIGH IN 2 ANIMALS THAT WERE KILLED ON DAY 11. MORPHOLOGICAL STUDIES SHOWED CHANGES IN THE HEART WHICH APPEARED AS NECROTIC MYOCARDIAL FIBERS AND SMALL AREAS OF FIBROSIS IN 3/4 ANIMALS: CHANGES IN THE LIVER SHOWED AS VACUOLATED HEPATOCYTES IN 3/4 ANIMALS. EXTENSIVE CHANGES IN THE KIDNEY SHOWED AS DILATION,EPITHELIAL VACULOIZATION AND EPITHELIAL DEGENERATION WITH CALICIFICATION AND DYSTROPHIC MINERALIZATION IN 3/4 ANIMALS AND UNILATERAL TESTICULAR ATROPHY SHOWED IN TWO MONKEYS. THE MONKEY THAT SURVIVED THE 13 WEEK DOSING PERIOD SHOWED NORMAL TESTES. |
