| Disease | DOSING WAS FOR 15 OR 30 DAYS. THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT IMPAIRMENT IN LIPID METABOLISM IN TESTIS, LIVER, BRAIN, KIDNEYS AND CHANGES IN LIVER FUNCTION-TEST PARAMETERS WERE NOTICED. ACCUMULATION OF TOTAL LIPIDS AND CHOLESTEROL, TRIGLYCERIDE AND FREE FATTY ACID LEVELS WERE NOTED IN TESTIS. PHOSPHOLIPIDS AND GANGLIOSIDE-SIALIC ACIDS REGISTERED A MARKED REDUCTION. LIPIDS WERE ALSO INCREASED IN LIVER AND KIDNEYS BUT DECREASED IN BRAIN. SERUM GLUCOSE, PROTEIN, ALBUMIN, ALBUMIN/GLOBULIN RATIO, TRANSAMINASES AND PHOSPHATASES WERE ELEVATED INSIGNIFICANTLY. ALL OF THESE CHANGES RESTORED BACK TO NORMAL ONCE THE DRUG WAS WITHDRAWN AND THE ANIMALS ALLOWED TO RECOVER FOR FURTHER 15 OR 30 DAYS. |
