| Disease | THE ACTIVITY OF GOSSYPOL IN 27 PATIENTS WITH PATHOLOGICALLY CONFIRMED GLIAL TUMORS WHICH HAD RECURRED AFTER RADIATION TAHERAPY I5 HAD GLIOBLASTOMA 11 HAD ANAPLASTIC ASTROCYTOMA 1 PATIENT RELAPSED LOW GRADE GLIIOMA RESPONSE WAS ASSESSED EVERY 8 WEEKS USING CT/MRI SCAN AND CLINICAL CRITERIA. 2 HAD PARTIAL RESPONSE, 4 HAD STABLE DISEASE FOR 8 WEEKS OR MORE. 1 HAD PARTIAL RESPONSE WITH IMPROVEMENT FOR 78 WEEKS. 1 HAD PARTIAL RESPONSE LASTING 8 WEEKS. TOXICITY WAS MILD, 2 HEAVILY PRETRATED PATIENTS HAD MILD THROMBOCYTHOPENIA 5 PATIENTS DEVELOPED HYPOLCALEMIC, 3 PATIENTS DEVELOPED GRADE 2 HEPETIC TOXICITY AND PERIPHERAL ADEMA. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT GOSSYPOL IS WELL TOLERATED AND HAS A 100 BUT MEASURABLE RESPONSE RATE IN A HEAVILY PRETREATED, POOR-PROGNOSIS GROUP OF PATIENTS WITH RECURRENT GLIMA. BUT LACK OF SIGNIFICANT MYLOSUPPRESSION, AND ACTIVITY IN PATIENTS WITH ADVANCE GLIOMA SUPPORT FURTHER STUDY OF GOSSYPOL AS AN ANTINEOPLASTIC AGENT. |
