THE BIPHASIC EFFECT ON INOS ACTIVITY OBSERVED IN VITRO WAS CONFIRMED IN CULTURED MOUSE MACROPHAGE CELLS AFTER PREINCUBATION WITH PYC AND SUBSEQUENT ACTIVATION WITH LPS AND IFN-GAMMA, A SIMILAR BIPHASIC MODULATION OF THE GENERATION OF NO2- AND NO3- HAS ALSO BEEN OBSERVED.
