IT WAS ALSO DEMONSTRATED THAT CANATOXIN PRODUCES A TIME AND DOSE DEPENDENT HYPOGLYCEMIA WHEN INJECTED INTO THE BRAIN'S LATERAL VENTRICLE. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE HYPOGLYCEMIA PRODUCED BY CANATOXIN IS A CENTRAL EFFECT AND DEPENDS ON PARASYMPATHETIC STIMULATION AND THAT THERE IS AN INVOLVEMENT OF THE ENDOGENOUS OPIOID SYSTEM.
