DiseaseALLERGIC AND TOXIC CONTACT DERMATITIS WERE INDUCED BY LOCAL APPLICATION OF DINITROCHLOROBENZENE. THE EXTRACT WAS GIVEN ORALLY AT A DOSE EQUIVALENT TO 2.5 GM/ANIMAL/DAY FOR 8 DAYS. THIS TREATMENT MARKEDLY INHIBITED EXPERIMENTAL CONTACT DERMATITIS, BUT ONLY EQUIVOCALLY ON EXPERIMENTAL ALLERGIC TOXIC CONTACT DERMATITIS. THE MECHANISM OF ACTION WAS PROBABLY RELATED TO ITS ANTIINFLAMMATORY AND IMMUNOSUPPRESIVE PROPERTIES.
