DiseaseTHE ANIMALS USED WERE TREATED BY REVERSIBLE PASSIVE ARTHUS REACTION(RPA) TO STUDY THE ANTI-IMMUNE COMPLEX INFLAMMATION OF THE TITLE PLANT AND TO STUDY ITS EFFECT ON THE INFLAMMATORY REACTION CAUSED BY LYSOZYME. THE RESULT SHOWED THE FOLLOWING: (A) THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT INHIBITION OF PEDAL EDEMA CAUSED BY THE ARTHUS REACTION (THE EFFECT AT 5 GM/KG WAS EQUIVALENT TO THAT OF 5 MG/KG PREDNISOLONE), (B) THERE WAS AN INCREASED VASCULAR PREMEABILITY CAUSED BY LYSOZYME, (C) THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT INHIBITORY ACTIVITY ON THE BLEEDING OF THE SKIN INDUCED BY THE ACID-TREATED LYSOZYME. HOWEVER, THE INHIBITORY ACTIVITY IS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED IF COMPARED TO THAT OF UNTREATED LYSOZYME.
