| Disease | PATIENTS AFTER SUBARACHNOID HAEMORRHAGE AND ANEURYSM OPERATION EVEN AFTER 7 -42 MONTHS HAVE SERIOUS COGNITIVE DEFICITS AND ONLY 70% OF THEM WILL HAVE GOOD NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL RESULTS. IN A PLACEBO-CONTROLLED, DOUBLE-BLIND STUDY CONDUCTED WITH 50 OUTPAIENTS AFTER SAH AND ANEURYSM OPERATION THE EFFICACY OF THE GINKGO BILOBA SPECIAL EXTRACT WAS TESTED WITH A SPECIFIC NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL TEST BATTERY. AFTER 12 WEEKS' THERAPY SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS WERE SHOWN IN THE FIELD OF ATTENTION AND VERBAL SHORT-TERM MEMORY. THESE RESULTS ARGUE IN FAVOUR OF EARLY INITATION OF THERAPY IN ORDER TO IMPROVE COGNITIVE DEFICITS IN PERFORMANCE AFTER ANEURYSM OPERATION. |
